final piece idea three

plan

My third idea for a final piece, is a selection of prints that visualise sound in its entirety. I selected a song and then split this into 20 so that each 11 seconds of the song is captured in one image. To produce the images i covered a speaker in cling film and filled the drum of the speaker with developer. After exposing the light-sensitive paper for 10 seconds i placed it face down onto the speaker and then played 11 seconds of the song at full volume. The sound waves produced by the speaker caused the water to splash upwards onto the paper creating a pattern of dots that form in the diameter of the speaker drum. After the 11 seconds are complete, i transferred ed the paper into the 'fix' where it set for a minute and was then placed in the water bath and then on a drying rack. The images are arranged to be read in order of the song, offering an alternative  to listening to a song.
